I am so honored to have been able to capture Priscilla and Erick’s special day! These two are serious #couplegoals!
Priscilla and Erick were married at Pedro St. James here in the Cayman Islands surrounded by their friends and family.
The couple had a gorgeous ceremony and reception set up by Celebrations. The wedding captured the couple’s timeless love perfectly. Filled with special floral touches and a vintage car. I’d have to say my favorite part of the day was the first kiss as husband and wife. Instead of letting the adrenaline of the day rush them through the kiss, the couple took a moment to just hold each other and soak up the moment. IT really was the sweetest thing.
Now, there are lots of unexpected surprises on a wedding day, and this wedding was no exception. It seemed as soon as the dinner was over and the speeches had been made- the heavens opened up in a torrential downpour! Everyone made a run for cover and Erick (the gentlemen that he is) chauffeured guests to their cars while he himself got soaked! They say it’s good luck to have rain on your wedding day right?
Well, let me tell you, this did not get the couple and their family down! A few days after the wedding, the family finished their reception in Erick’s mother’s front yard. Complete with first dances! These are truly the moments that matter in our lives, and I know this couple will take on the world together!
Congratulations Priscilla and Erick! XO
Let’s start with a tough one. Describe your wedding day in 3-5 words!
Rustic, chic, magical
What photography related advice would you offer the camera shy?
Try an engagement session first. Erick and I had never taken professional photos together. The engagement session was a great way for us to practice our posing and warm up to the camera. As a bonus, we got a lot of great shots out of it.
The Dress. Tell me about your experience choosing it! Where did you find it, how did you choose it and how many did you try on before you found the one?
My maid of honor and I planned a trip to Atlanta, GA to find a dress. I made appointments at three highly rated bridal stores, thinking I’d be able to find a dress at at least one. After trying on many dresses and not falling in love with any, I became worried that I would not find the “perfect dress.” Knowing I had a limited amount of time, I almost chose a dress that I liked but didn’t love. However, I decided to take a risk and made last minute appointments in two bridal stores in Coral Gables, Florida. We had planned to stop in Miami for two days before heading back to Cayman. It was in the first bridal store that I found “the one”. Ironically, the style of the dress is one that I had not expected to fall in love with.
How was your experience taking photos with Jenna on your wedding day?
I felt so comfortable working with Jenna. I trusted her to capture every important detail of our special day. Jenna is such a sweetheart and was such a pleasure to be around, but she was also firm enough to direct the crowd. When we saw our edited wedding photos for the first time, it was like someone hit a rewind button. Suddenly we were reliving every magical moment. We’re so happy we chose Jenna to capture our wedding day!
What made you choose your venue?
We chose Pedro St. James because of its jaw-dropping views of the ocean and the rustic element that the Great House added. We also loved the fact that the Great Lawn provided the blank canvas that we needed to make our wedding day visions come to life.
What specific moment will you hold onto forever?
I will hold onto the memory of seeing my husband for the first time as I walked down the aisle. I grew nervous when I got out of the limo and took my father’s hand. All eyes were on me. As we made our way around the corner and towards the gazebo where Erick waited for me, my eyes met his but then quickly shifted to his smile. His smile was infectious and my worries instantly faded away. Erick was the happiest I had ever seen him. It was from that moment that I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life giving him a reason to smile.
Did you do a first look? Why or why not?
We didn’t do a first look. We wanted to save the emotions for the ceremony. We wanted our loved ones to be experience this special moment with us.
What advice would you offer couples planning for their wedding?
Slow down and enjoy the wedding planning process. The time goes by quickly!
Do you have a favorite photo? If so, which one?
My favorite photo is one of Erick kissing me on my forehead. To me, a forehead kiss is different than a kiss on the lips. It says, “I want to be with you forever and I will always protect you.”
How would you describe your overall wedding experience?
Although we encountered a few issues on the big day, including torrential rain that caused our wedding to end earlier than planned, the fact that we were married made our overall wedding experience magical. My husband’s mother even hosted a sequel to our wedding several days later so that we could pick up where we left off. We have a great story to tell now!
How did you find me?
I came across Jenna’s work on social media before we were even engaged. When it came time to start planning our wedding, I already knew I wanted to work with Jenna.
